CENTRE– Centre’s annual fall cleanup will run Monday, October 19, through Friday, October 23. The City of Centre says crews will collect cleanup material on each household’s normal garbage pickup day.
The city also has cleanup bags available at City Hall for residents taking part. City Hall, at 350 East Main Street, keeps weekday hours from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., according to the city’s Public Works page.

Residents should check what they put out. The city’s event flyer says the landfill will not accept hazardous or liquid waste, lead-acid batteries, or waste oil. In addition, it will not take tires or appliances containing CFCs, a type of refrigerant.
However, the flyer does not list other acceptable items, a quantity limit, or a separate drop-off site for excluded materials. Anyone unsure whether an item qualifies can call City Hall at 256-927-5222 before their collection day.
The city announced the October 19–23 dates at a September council meeting, WEIS previously reported. The cleanup also gives residents a chance to clear unwanted material while following the city’s regular collection schedule.
