GADSDEN– Lt. Scott Lumpkin has retired from the Gadsden Police Department, ending a career that included investigative, training, and tactical leadership roles.
The department recently announced Lumpkin’s retirement and thanked him for his service to the city.
Lumpkin served as a detective and later supervised other detectives. He also served as a department instructor across GPD’s training programs.
In addition, Lumpkin became tactical commander of the Etowah County Joint Special Operations Group. Police officials credited his passion for training and the countless hours he spent preparing officers for future responsibilities.
The department also said Lumpkin brought a memorable personality to his work and left a lasting mark on GPD.
His departure follows the June retirement of veteran Gadsden Detective Ron Leek. Leek’s career also included investigative work and officer training.
GPD congratulated Lumpkin as he begins retirement and thanked him for serving the Gadsden community. The department closed its announcement with the sign-off, “238 — out.”
