CENTRE– The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office recently hosted tactical training for its Emergency Response Team and nearby law enforcement officers.
Detective Mike Rios of the New York City Police Department’s Emergency Service Unit led the sessions. ESU handles high-risk tactical, rescue, and emergency operations for the NYPD.
Rios also teaches tactics and specialized skills to members of the unit. Meanwhile, the sheriff’s office organized separate training for its Emergency Response Team and for deputies and officers from nearby agencies.
Participants strengthened their skills by working through several scenarios. Additionally, the training focused on helping everyone perform their duties more safely.
The agency said Rios brought extensive experience to the sessions. Moreover, he shared knowledge and techniques participants can apply within their own agencies.
Finally, the sheriff’s office thanked Rios for making the trip and sharing his time and experience.
