LEESBURG- The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office hosted a three-day Jail Training Officer course for corrections officers this week.

The course prepared officers to train, mentor, and evaluate new corrections officers. In addition, the program reinforced leadership, communication, and accountability.

Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office personnel led the course. Instructors included Sgt. Mike Farrell, Chief of Corrections Sierra Wilks, Lt. Jordan Kelley, and Deputy Michael Pruett.

The sheriff’s office said the training reflects its staff’s continued commitment to professional development. It also allows experienced personnel to share their knowledge with law-enforcement and corrections professionals throughout the area.
