Lady Warriors pick up season-opening volleyball tri-match wins over Geraldine, Scottsboro

CENTRE – The Cherokee County Lady Warriors opened their 2026 volleyball season Thursday with a tri-match against Geraldine and Scottsboro.

The Lady Warriors swept Geraldine 25-17, 25-17, then defeated Scottsboro in an area match 23-25, 25-9, 25-16, 25-8.

In the win over Geraldine, Jolie Alexander delivered 11 kills, five digs and a pair of aces. Ava Haygood added seven kills, four digs, an ace and an assist. Taniya Fife came away with five kills, four digs, a block and an ace. Harleigh Henry had three kills, two aces, an assist and a block.

Mattie Green managed 12 assists, four digs, three kills and a block. Sydni Frost finished with 11 assists and a dig.

Against Scottsboro, Alexander posted 21 kills, a dig, an ace and two assists. Haygood collected 14 kills, eight digs and two aces. Frost added 19 assists, an ace, a kill and a dig.

Green gained 14 assists, 11 aces, three kills, three assists, three digs and two blocks. Fife finished with two kills, two digs, three blocks, two aces and an assist.

Cherokee County (2-0) competes in the Caro Strong Invitational in Jacksonville on Saturday.
