Motorcyclist Airlifted After Crash on Highway 431 in Gadsden

GADSDEN– One man was airlifted to a regional hospital Saturday evening after a motorcycle crash in Gadsden’s Alabama City community.

The crash occurred near the intersection of U.S. Highway 431 and North 32nd Street. The Gadsden Police Department, Gadsden Fire Department, and A-Med Ambulance Service responded.

A woman who witnessed the crash told WEIS the motorcycle struck the center median, throwing the rider from the bike.

The crash brought traffic through the area to a stop while first responders treated the injured man. Both lanes from Attalla toward Gadsden were closed, while the left lane traveling toward Attalla was also blocked.

A-Med transported the rider to a landing zone behind Floyd Elementary School, near Gadsden Fire Station 4. Life Flight 16 then airlifted him to a regional hospital for further treatment.

The man’s condition was not available Saturday evening. Gadsden police continue to investigate the motorcycle crash.
