LITTLE RIVER CANYON– Little River Canyon National Preserve will hold a photography contest in honor of National Photography Day on August 19.
The preserve invites photographers to submit scenic images taken inside the park. Submissions open Wednesday, July 22, and close Wednesday, August 19.
Photography Contest Rules
Each person may submit up to five photographs. However, eligible photographs must have been taken between July 2025 and the present.
Additionally, each photograph must be an original image taken by the person submitting it. The preserve will not accept photographs created or edited with artificial intelligence.
Photographers may use techniques such as long exposure. However, they should not apply filters or make heavy edits to their images.
The contest is limited to scenic photography. For example, eligible subjects include plants, animals, waterfalls, insects, sunrises, and sunsets.
Photographs containing people will not be accepted.
How to Submit Photographs

Participants should email their photographs to Angela Bates at angela_bates@nps.gov. Each submission must include the photographer’s name in the email and image file name.
The top three photographs will appear on the preserve’s Facebook page. In addition, the winning images will be displayed in the Little River Canyon Center lobby during National Park Week from August 22 through August 30.
All submitted photographs will become the property of Little River Canyon National Preserve. As a result, the images will enter the public domain and will not remain subject to copyright protection.
