Multi-Agency Rescue Conducted at Little River Canyon National Preserve Following Fall

FORT PAYNE — A multi-agency rescue operation was carried out Sunday afternoon at Little River Canyon National Preserve after a 14-year-old male reportedly fell from the top of the main falls.

According to Fischer Rescue, the incident occurred at approximately 2:36 p.m. when crews were dispatched to assist with the emergency at the popular recreational area. Upon arrival, responders found the patient at the base of the falls receiving initial medical attention.

Due to the difficult terrain, rescue personnel coordinated a technical evacuation using a rescue basket. The patient was carefully secured and hoisted from the canyon floor to the top of the falls, where a medical helicopter was staged and ready for transport.

The patient was then transferred by an Air Evac Lifeteam for further medical treatment.

Multiple agencies assisted in the operation, including Fischer Rescue, DeKalb Ambulance Service, Fort Payne Fire Department, Adamsburg Fire Department, Little River Canyon National Preserve staff, and the National Park Service.

Officials praised the coordinated response, citing the teamwork, efficiency, and professionalism of all personnel involved in the rescue.

Authorities are asking the public to keep the patient, family, and first responders in their thoughts and prayers.
