Driver Suffers Minor Injuries
ALEXIS – A log truck overturned in the Alexis community of Cherokee County early Tuesday morning, leaving one lane of County Road 22 temporarily blocked while crews worked to clear the scene.

The accident occurred near Mud Creek on County Road 22, close to the intersection with County Road 558. Cherokee County 911 received the initial call at approximately 5:10 a.m. reporting that the driver was entrapped.
Emergency responders from McCord’s Cross Roads, the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office, Atrium Floyd EMS, and the Cherokee County Rescue Squad were dispatched to the scene. However, the driver was able to escape the overturned truck, allowing the Rescue Squad and some other responding units to be cancelled while the remaining agencies continued to the scene.

According to first responders, the driver told authorities he swerved to avoid a car that continued traveling after the incident, causing him to lose control of the log truck. The truck overturned, spilling its load of logs into a nearby field.

The driver sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene but did not require transport to a hospital.

One lane of County Road 22 remained blocked as first responders directed traffic through the area one lane at a time while recovery and cleanup operations were underway.
The accident remains under investigation.
