Two Injured in Rollover Crash Near Alabama-Georgia State Line

FORNEY — Two people were injured, one critically, in a single-vehicle rollover crash Sunday evening east of Forney near the Alabama-Georgia state line.

Emergency responders were dispatched just before 6:30 p.m. to U.S. Highway 411 North, west of County Road 101, following reports of a vehicle rollover involving injuries and a possible entrapment.

Responding agencies included McCord’s Fire Department, the Cherokee County Rescue Squad, Atrium Health Floyd EMS, the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office, and the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.

According to McCord’s Fire Department, Assistant Chief Rogers arrived on the scene and found one occupant who had already exited the vehicle. That individual suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries. A second occupant remained trapped inside the wreckage and was reported to be suffering from critical injuries.

Engine 51 arrived shortly after the initial response, and firefighters immediately began rescue operations. Crews were able to extricate the trapped victim within minutes, allowing first responders to begin lifesaving treatment at the scene.

Both patients were later transported by Atrium Health Floyd EMS personnel for continued medical care to Atrium Health Floyd Medical Center in Rome, Georgia.

McCord’s Fire Chief Rich Lindsey expressed appreciation to all responding agencies for their rapid response and coordinated efforts during the incident, noting that teamwork among emergency personnel helped ensure the best possible outcome for the victims.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency. No additional information about the victims has been released.
