LEESBURG— First Baptist Church of Centre is inviting young anglers to enjoy a morning of fishing, faith, and fun during its upcoming FBC Kids Fishing Rodeo on Saturday, May 30.
Hosted by the church’s FBC Fishers ministry, the event is open to children ages 5 through 15 and will take place at Gary Smith’s pond, located at 2992 County Road 7 in Leesburg.
Organizers say the event is designed to provide children with a fun-filled morning of outdoor recreation, friendly competition, and fellowship while creating lasting memories.
The day’s activities will begin at 9 a.m. with a devotion and announcements, followed by the first casts at 9:15 a.m. The rodeo competition will conclude at 12:30 p.m., with lunch and an awards presentation featuring prizes scheduled to begin at 12:40 p.m.
First Baptist Church of Centre will provide adult supervision, live bait, water, snacks, lunch, and fishing rods and tackle for children who do not have their own equipment.
The event is open to all children ages 5 to 15, and church membership is not required to participate. Organizers say each child must have a registration form and waiver signed by a parent or legal guardian. Registration can also be completed on site if a parent or guardian is present.
In addition to participants, the church is seeking volunteers and donations of fishing rods, tackle, equipment, and prize items to help support the event.
To register a child or volunteer, contact Recreation Director Chris Cothran at 256-577-0368.
Organizers encourage families to come out for what promises to be a memorable day of fishing and fellowship — and maybe even the chance to reel in a big catch.
