
PIEDMONT-During the Piedmont City Council meeting on Tuesday afternoon, Chief Nathan Johnson presented the Council with the report which reflected a total of 29 arrests on 33 misdemeanor charges and 4 felony charges. Officers had a total of 853 Contacts with the public with 448 of those being initiated by the Officers.
There were 172 extra patrol and district checks and worked 10 traffic accidents, along with conducting 92 traffic stops. A total of 8,808 miles were patrolled during the month. The dispatch office received 1,469 phone calls with 396 Rescue calls being dispatched along with 106 Fire Calls, and 6 after hour Utility Calls.
The Court Collections for the month totaled $14,224 with the City retaining $6,710.50. After Chief Johnson gave the report, Councilman Farmer questioned him about the low number of traffic stops. Farmer said that was only 3 per day for the entire force. Johnson said his department had issues in April that caused a shift in duties from patrolling to other duties necessary for the time and the issues they were dealing with.
