It was a short meeting of the Collinsville City Council Monday afternoon with the Council approving minutes from the previous meeting.

The Mayor gave his activity report which included performing his second wedding earlier in the day.

In the Clerk’s report, the Council was informed of several attachments in their packets which included the second quarter’s budget and some board members terms expiring and the Council needs to be thinking about either reappointment of current members or consider new appointments.

In Department reports, Jennifer Wilkins, Librarian, told the Council their plant sale was a huge success with them selling more than $2200 worth.  She also informed the Council about an upcoming Food Distribution on May 27th with the Food Bank of North Alabama distributing fresh fruits and vegetables to anyone who wants to stop the Collinsville Fire Department from 11am until noon.  Wilkins was also recognized as the City Employee with the longest running seniority of 27 years.

Mayor Chandler asked the Council about considering a rate increase on the Garbage Collections. Customers now pay $20 per month but considering adding a dollar per month to put it up to $21 per month. No action was taken, Mayor Chandler told the Council to be thinking about that and they would consider the measure at the next meeting. If passed, the increase would be effective on July 1st.
