One Killed, Two Injured in Highway 68 Crash Near Cherokee–DeKalb County Line

COLLINSVILLE — One person was killed, and two others were injured in a crash involving a commercial vehicle, reportedly a tractor-trailer, and a passenger vehicle Wednesday, May 6, on Alabama Highway 68 near the Cherokee County and DeKalb County line.

The collision occurred near the intersection of County Road 1. Authorities said the crash involved a commercial tractor-trailer and a passenger vehicle. One person was pronounced dead at the scene. Two additional individuals were transported to a hospital in Gadsden for treatment of their injuries. Their conditions have not been released.

The driver of the commercial vehicle, reportedly the tractor-trailer, was not injured in the crash.

The Collinsville Police Department is leading the investigation, which remains ongoing. Officials said names of those involved are not being released at this time, and no further information is available.

Multiple agencies responded to the scene, including Sand Rock Fire, Collinsville Fire, Leesburg Fire, the Cherokee County Emergency Management Agency, the DeKalb County Emergency Management Agency, the Collinsville Rescue Squad, and the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.

Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
