80th Annual Meeting Of the Cherokee County Chamber of Commerce and Tourism

Centre- Tuesday evening the Chamber of Commerce held it 80th Meeting of the organization serving the Cherokee County Area Business Community since 1946.
Executive Director Joy Perry opened the event along with Membership Manager LeAnn Lockridge.

Awards were presented with the Chamber Merit Award going to County Commission Chairman/Probate Judge Tim Burgess.
The W.A. “Dub” Ellis Award went to Eric Ellis.
The Beautification Award went to the Cherokee County Courthouse in recognition of the New Courthouse on east Main Street with Chairman Burgess, County Administrator Daniel Steele, Commissioner Carlton Teague and Commissioner Ronnie Shaw accepting the award on behalf of the County.

The Mary George Waite Spirit Award was presented to Joe Hall.
The Chamber Scholarship to Gadsden State went to Logan Goza of Cedar Bluff High School.
Dr. Landon Marks of the County Extension Service, Cherokee County Health and Rehab, State Representative Ginny Shaver, and the Staff of WEIS Radio were also recognized for recent awards and accomplishments.

The Gavel was passed from Chairman Beverly Edwards to incoming Chairman Daniel Steele. Mark Gossett is the Chairman Elect, Treasurer Craig Gilley, Secretary Jennifer Cambron.

Two were selected to serve on the Board of Directors for a two-year period. They are Kathy Griffith and Mark Gossett.
Gene Cleveland of KTH did a short presentation about the Plant at Leesburg celebrating 25 years of service to the County and surrounding area. There was a 3-minute video about the business and Cleveland announced an Open House at the Plant for Sunday, November 1st.
The Gadsden State A cappella choir provided entertainment for the event.
