Cherokee County Churches Invited to Participate in the Annual Blue Sunday for Kids

Cherokee County-Cherokee County churches are invited by The Children’s Advocacy Center of Cherokee County to participate in the annual Blue Sunday for Kids, a national day of prayer dedicated to raising awareness for child abuse prevention and supporting efforts to protect vulnerable children.

Congregations are encouraged to wear blue, unite in prayer for children who are at risk or have experienced abuse, and lift up those who work to rescue, care for, and advocate on their behalf.

While wearing blue may seem like a simple act, its impact is profound. When survivors enter a sanctuary and see a congregation united in blue, it communicates a powerful message without words: that the church believes survivors, stands with the vulnerable, and stands firmly against those who harm children.

For children and adults carrying silent trauma, this visible expression of support can be the first indication that the church is a safe place—somewhere they can speak, begin to heal, and trust they will be protected and heard.

The annual Blue Sunday observance provides an opportunity for the faith community to stand together in compassion, awareness, and action—helping create environments where safety, healing, and hope can flourish.

Bulletin inserts, videos, and additional resources are available through the CAC website at www.cherokeecountycac.org to assist churches in participating. If your church needs materials or support, please reach out to the CAC at 256-927-2111 or by email at loriharriscac@gmail.com.

The CAC is also available to visit Cherokee County churches to share ways congregations can actively partner in prevention efforts, support families, and help build safe sanctuaries—faith communities committed to protecting children and preventing abuse.

Through participation in the annual Blue Sunday for Kids, Cherokee County churches can make a meaningful and lasting impact by standing together in prayer, awareness, and action for the safety and well-being of every child.
