Collinsville City Council Meeting

A Public Hearing for comment was held at the beginning of the Meeting with Lee Perry who was there to close out the City’s CDBG Sewer Project Grant that covered several streets in the northern portion of the City. The Grant was administered through ADECA with the project work being done from February 2025 through May 2025. The Total Grant was $400,000 in CDBG Funds with a $60,000 match from the City for a total of $460,000 for the project.

Jennifer Wilkins, Librarian for the City, informed the Council she was successful in obtaining a $2500 grant for the City for the Nation’s 250th Celebration. She said the grant would cover a window mural, a voter registration drive, banners for the City’s 19 Flag Poles, and a speaker for the Annual Decoration Day on May 3rd, Pastor Gary Furr from Huntsville.

The Council heard from a Community Group sponsoring the Juneteenth Celebration on June 20th. The group shared with the Council how they had personally financed the event in 2025 and asked the City to support the program this year with in-kind services, finances, and any other support they could. The Group said this would enable them to have a larger celebration to reach more people. Mayor Chandler said he would check with the City’s Attorney to determine how they could do this.

The next meeting of the Collinsville City Council is May 4th at 5 pm in the Council Chambers.
