WASHINGTON, D.C. — Congressman Robert Aderholt has announced a federal grant for Northeast Alabama Community College in DeKalb County through the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Rural Development Community Facilities Grant program.

According to Aderholt, Northeast Alabama Community College will receive $273,188 to purchase nursing equipment for its nursing program. The funding will support high-quality healthcare education at the college, strengthen simulation-based and interdisciplinary training, and help prepare graduates to meet the complex healthcare needs of rural communities.

The grant is part of USDA Community Facilities funding designed to support public service buildings and improve the quality of life in rural areas.

Aderholt said the investment will help ensure rural communities have access to well-trained healthcare professionals.

“I am proud to announce these projects which are exactly the kind of targeted, community-driven investments that make a real difference for the people of Alabama’s Fourth District,” Aderholt said. “By improving educational opportunities and expanding first responder capabilities, we’re ensuring that our rural communities continue to thrive.”

The congressman also emphasized the importance of supporting healthcare professionals and first responders with the resources they need.

“Our first responders and healthcare professionals play a critical role in our economy and communities, and they deserve access to high-quality, life-saving equipment and resources,” Aderholt said.

The USDA also awarded a $32,000 Community Facilities Grant to the Winfield Fire Department in Marion County to purchase equipment replacing outdated gear used by the department.
