Mrs. Ann Louise (Bukovac) Evans

Mrs. Ann Louise (Bukovac) Evans, age 89 of Centre, passed away on March 30, 2026, at her residence.

A funeral mass will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, at St Michael’s Catholic Mission in Centre, AL, with Father Jonathan Howell officiating. The family will be receiving friends from 11:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. at St Michael’s Catholic Mission and subsequent lunch at the church hall. A private burial will take place at a later date in the Georgia National Cemetery.

She is survived by her children, Annette (Jesse) Seago; Debbie (David) Smitty, and Don Evans; grandchildren, Elizabeth and Zachary (Ashley) Seago, Ben (Julie) and Anna Smitty, Drew, Kamryn, and Sydney Evans; great grandchild, Samuel Smitty; brother, Matt Bukovac; and sisters-in-law, Mary Bukovac and Norma Bukovac.

Ann Louise Evans was born January 25, 1937 in Whiting, Indiana the second child of Yugoslavian immigrants from Croatia. She resided in Whiting and Caramel Indiana, Manlius, NY, Roswell and Milton, GA and moved with her husband to Centre, AL in 2023 residing at Cherokee Village.

Ann worked in clerical, accounting and customer service roles for Alpha Kapa Psi, Syracuse University, Heritage Bank, and finally more than 20 years at AT&T.

Ann was the foundation of her family. She was a staunch supporter of her husband, Wayne, and the backbone behind his life as an inventor, aviator, and author. Together, Wayne and Ann raised 4 children and were devoted to each other for 64 years of marriage until January 2025 when he passed. Ann deeply loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchild and her legacy lives in them. She lived her life for her family. She will be missed by them all.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Evans; parents, Matthew and Milka Bukovac; son, David Evans; siblings, Frank Bukovac and Mary Alvord; and in-laws, Al Alvord, Dolores and John Noland, and Willard and Ruby Hein.

The family requests that flowers be sent to St. Michael’s Catholic Mission at 165 Plaza Drive, Centre, AL 35960.
