Man Taken Into Custody Following Standoff on Ervin Patterson Road

ALBERTVILLE — A man was taken into custody following a standoff with law enforcement on Wednesday, April 1, in the Albertville area as officers attempted to serve multiple warrants.

According to information reported by the Sand Mountain Reporter, deputies with the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department, along with the Marshall County SWAT team and the Etowah County Sheriff’s Office, responded to the area of 700 Ervin Patterson Road while attempting to locate the suspect.

Authorities said the individual, identified as Jeremy Lang, fled into a shed on the property and refused to come out when officers attempted to take him into custody. Lang was believed to be armed with a weapon during the incident.

Marshall County Sheriff Phil Sims stated that the situation remained under control throughout the response and there was no threat to the surrounding community.

Law enforcement officers were eventually able to take Lang into custody, and the weapon was confiscated. Officials confirmed that all officers involved were safe.

Authorities also indicated that multiple additional charges are expected to be filed against Lang as a result of the incident.
