Chief Deputy Josh Summerford Urges Residents: “Every Tip Matters in Keeping Cherokee County Safe”

CHEROKEE COUNTY- Cherokee County Chief Deputy Josh Summerford is urging residents to take an active role in keeping their community safe by utilizing the county’s crime tip line.

In a recent statement, Summerford emphasized the importance of public cooperation in law enforcement efforts, noting that community input is often critical in solving cases and preventing criminal activity.

“We rely on our community every day, and our crime tip line is one of the most important ways you can help keep our county safe,” Summerford said. “If you see something or know something, we encourage you to speak up.”

Officials highlighted that the tip system is designed to be accessible and user-friendly. Residents can submit information quickly through the department’s website and have the option to remain anonymous if they prefer. The system also allows users to upload photos, videos, or other forms of evidence that may assist investigators.

For those who prefer to call, tips can be reported directly by phone at 256-927-9999.

Authorities stressed, however, that the tip line is not intended for emergencies or crimes in progress. In those situations, residents should call 911 immediately to ensure a rapid response.

According to Summerford, even seemingly minor details can play a significant role in investigations.

“Every tip matters,” he said. “Even the smallest detail can help our investigators solve a case, prevent a crime, and hold those responsible accountable.”

The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office continues to encourage citizens to remain vigilant and engaged, reinforcing the idea that public involvement is a key component of community safety.
