Floyd County Courts to Resume Thursday with Temporary Parking Changes Following Fire

ROME — Floyd County Superior Court, Juvenile Court, Magistrate Court, and Probate Court will reopen Thursday, March 26, following recent disruptions caused by a courthouse fire.
Members of the public can access the courthouse parking lot via the Fifth Avenue bridge; however, Fifth Avenue from the parking lot to Broad Street will remain closed. The upper half of the courthouse parking lot is fenced off and unavailable for use, while the lower half will be reserved for public parking with a one-hour limit enforced.
The Sixth Avenue parking deck will also be open and accessible via Sixth Avenue. A courtesy shuttle is being arranged to assist those who may have difficulty walking from the Sixth Avenue parking deck to the courthouse, particularly during early morning and late afternoon hours.

Temporary parking adjustments have been implemented following discussions with county officials, including the county manager, sheriff, and facilities staff. Courthouse employees, including judges, deputies, and other staff, are prohibited from parking in the courthouse lot. Instead, employees are encouraged to use the Fourth Avenue and Sixth Avenue parking decks. Reserved spaces on the main floor of the Sixth Avenue deck, marked in red, will remain available only for employees with permits.
County officials are asking for public patience as these temporary measures remain in effect, emphasizing efforts to ensure continued access and services during this challenging period.
