Lightning Strike Causes House Fire in Scottsboro

SCOTTSBORO, Ala.– Officials with the Jackson County EMA say a Scottsboro home caught fire Monday evening after being struck by lightning.

EMA Director Joshua Whitcomb said first responders were called to a home on Cunningham Street after the lightning strike was reported.

According to the Scottsboro Fire Department, crews responded at approximately 6:05 p.m. Firefighters found a small fire on the roof and were able to bring it under control by 6:20 p.m.

Officials say power to the home was disconnected as a precaution. No injuries were reported.
