In the Cherokee County Arrest Files for the previous 24 hours:
Rodney Newton, age 52 of Centre, was arrested by the Centre Police Department on a charge of 3rd degree criminal trespass.
James Smith, age 33 of Centre, was arrested by the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office on charges of the possession of dangerous drugs, the unlawful possession or sale of a hemp product, the use or possession with intent to use drug paraphernalia, two counts of synthetic narcotic possession, opium or derivative possession, and the illegal possession of prescription pills.
Chelsee McMurtrey, age 29 of Centre, was arrested by the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office on a grand jury indictment for the unlawful possession of a controlled substance, failure to appear on a previous charge, and charges of possession of methamphetamine, the unlawful possession or sale of a hemp product, and the use or possession with intent to use drug paraphernalia.
April Elders, age 40 of Cedar Bluff, was arrested by the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office on charges of the unlawful possession of a controlled substance and the unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.
Arrests are based on probable cause; all subjects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Currently, there are a total of 76 inmates housed in the Cherokee County Detention Center.
