Traffic Slowed on U.S. 411 After Vehicle Fire

CHEROKEE COUNTY, Ala.- Traffic was slowed along U.S. 411 South near County Road 31 early this afternoon after a truck caught fire.

A 2014 Dodge Ram 4500 driven by Norman Barrett caught fire around 1:30 p.m. as he was traveling toward Centre. Barrett told WEIS the cab suddenly filled with smoke, prompting him to pull off the roadway and check under the hood and around the vehicle.

Moments later, the truck erupted in flames and quickly became fully engulfed.

Barrett was not injured.

Centre Fire Department responded to the scene, and Alabama State Troopers were called in to investigate the cause of the fire.
