Collinsville boys punch Northeast Regional ticket with win at Weaver

WEAVER – The Collinsville Panthers punched their Northeast Regional ticket with a 52-31 victory at Weaver in Class 3A sub-regional basketball action on Saturday.

Sylas Adams led the Panthers (18-6) with 13 points. Bentley Jones tossed in 11 points. Gavin Lang and Sam Stewart both connected on a pair of 3-pointers and finished with 10 points apiece. Mason McAteer managed eight points.

DJ Marbury topped Weaver with 10 points. Junior Allen added seven points and John Curtis Reeves finished with five points.

Collinsville jumped out to a 17-6 advantage at the end of the first quarter and held a 26-17 edge at halftime. The Panthers went on a 17-7 run in the third to take a 43-23 lead into the fourth quarter.

Collinsville plays Westbrook Christian at Pete Mathews Coliseum in Jacksonville on Wednesday. Westbrook Christian defeated Asbury 64-45 in other sub-regional action on Saturday.
