The Cherokee County Lady Warriors continue to lead the area in the latest Alabama Sports Writers Association high school basketball rankings. The latest poll was released early Thursday morning.

Winners of 17 in a row, the Lady Warriors (24-2) remain third in Class 4A behind Plainview (26-2) and Deshler (21-3).

Class 2A Sand Rock (17-9) remained at No. 4 this week, while Cedar Bluff (18-5) crept up a spot to No. 5.

Two other area girls teams continue to receive nominations: Class 3A Collinsville (9-9) and Piedmont (11-12).

In the boys poll, Class 3A Piedmont (15-6) fell a spot to No. 8 and Class 2A Sand Rock (16-9) dropped two places to No. 10.

Class 2A Cedar Bluff (14-10) and Class 3A Collinsville (13-5) both continue to be nominated.
