Authorities Arrest Boaz Man in Online Child Solicitation Case

ETOWAH COUNTY, Ala.- A Boaz man has been arrested on charges of electronic solicitation of a child following a multi-agency undercover investigation.

Etowah County Sheriff Jonathon Horton says 50-year-old James Eric Sitz was taken into custody January 8th at his home on Maple Drive under a warrant issued by the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office.

Investigators say the case stems from an undercover operation that began last August, during which Sitz allegedly believed he was communicating online with a 14-year-old girl. Authorities say the account was operated by a law enforcement investigator.

Sheriff Horton says multiple electronic devices were seized and additional charges are possible as the investigation continues.

Sitz is currently being held in Etowah County while awaiting extradition to Baldwin County.
