Gadsden, Ala. — Lt. Jay Cromer has retired from the Gadsden Fire Department following a distinguished 25-year career, marking the continuation of a proud three-generation family tradition of service to the community.

Cromer followed in the footsteps of his father, Commander Billy Cromer, who also served with the department, and worked alongside his own sons, Driver Lex Cromer and Firefighter Trace Cromer. Together, the Cromer family represents a rare and notable legacy within the Gadsden Fire Department.

Throughout his career, Lt. Cromer was recognized for his professionalism, leadership, and commitment to public safety, exemplifying dedication both to his family and to the department he served for more than two decades.

Cromer’s service was supported throughout the years by his wife, Kristi Cromer, who stood by him during his demanding career in emergency services.
