Rome Police Release New Details in Homicide Investigation

Two Suspects Arrested in Rome Homicide; Investigation Remains Active

ROME, Ga– The Rome Police Department has released new information in a homicide investigation at the John Graham Homes.

Police have identified the victim as 20-year-old Kaylee Shackelford of Powell, Tennessee. Detectives say she had been in a relationship with Mystique Malachi Amaziah Taylor, who had also started an online relationship with Rolanda Monique Edwards. Investigators confirm that neither the victim nor the suspects are from Rome or Floyd County.

Witnesses reported seeing a red passenger vehicle in the area before Shackelford’s body was found covered with blankets. That vehicle was later stopped in Bartow County with help from multiple law-enforcement agencies.

Taylor, age 23, and Edwards, age 25, remain jailed without bond on multiple felony charges.

Authorities emphasized that all individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

The Rome Police Department expressed appreciation to the Floyd County Police Department, Floyd County Sheriff’s Office, Georgia State Patrol, and the Bartow County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance in locating and apprehending the suspects. Officials said the case highlights the strength of regional law enforcement partnerships and their shared commitment to public safety.
