Warriors fall short in basketball season opener at Glencoe

GLENCOE – Jayquan Diamond delivered 22 points, including four 3-pointers, and Tatum Perry posted 15 points, including a 7-for-7 performance from the free-throw line, but their efforts weren’t enough for the Cherokee County Warriors in their basketball season opener at Glencoe on Thursday. The Warriors fell by the final of 75-65.

Diamond also had a pair of rebounds and a steal for the Warriors (0-1). Perry grabbed five rebounds and had five steals.

Keyshawn Woods added seven points. Daniel Neyman netted six points on a pair of 3-pointers. Nolan Neyman finished with five points, three rebounds, a steal, and a block.

Grant Smith led Glencoe with 30 points. Durrell Hampton came away with 24 points, including a pair of treys. Bryce Borntrager finished with 13 points.

Cherokee County travels to North Sand Mountain on Dec. 5.
