Mr. Gilbert Ladell Patty, age 84 of Centre, transitioned over to his heavenly home on September 9, 2025, at his residence.
Funeral Services will be held at 2 PM Friday, September 12th at New Bethel Baptist Church on Highway 411 North. Burial will follow in the Old Providence Church Cemetery.
His family will be receiving friends from 12 noon until the hour of service at the church.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Linda Martin Patty; Sister, Glenda Faye McHugh; Sons, Chris (Elaine) Patty and Jason (Kimberly) Patty; Grandson, Forrest (Katharine) Patty; Granddaughter, Megan (Joshua) Patty Jenkins; Nephew, Matthew (Holly) McHugh; Great grandchildren, Anna, Hunter, and Chloe Jenkins; Great-great grandson, Hayes Jenkins.
Pallbearers will be Danny Walker, Robert Odom, Troy Jolly, Michael Peek, Michael McRay, Kenny Walker, Steve Smith, and Keith Hill.
Honorary pallbearers include Noel Cannon, the New Bethel Baptist Church Men’s Sunday School Class, and classmates from Cherokee County High School Class of 1959.
Gilbert was born in Rome, GA to the late Johnnie Lester and Christine Lambert Patty. He was a graduate of Cherokee County High School, Class of 1959. He retired from Inland Container Corporation, Independent Life Insurance Company, and the Cherokee County Board of Education. Mr. Patty was known as a devoted and loving husband, father, and grandfather. He lived a life that honored Jesus, stayed humble, and was an extremely hard worker. He was a man with many talents, often fixing whatever was broken for his family and friends. Gilbert will forever be remembered for his sense of humor and compassion for taking care of everyone around him.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Johnnie and Christine Patty; Step-mother, Edna Steed Patty; Brother-in-law, Jerry McHugh; Nephew, Terry McHugh.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his name to the Old Providence Baptist Church Cemetery Fund at 30 County Road 101, Centre, AL 35960, or New Bethel Baptist Church at 9635 US-411, Centre, AL 35960.
