Mr. Jerry Tyre Jiles, age 84 of Centre, passed away on Monday, August
18, 2025, at his residence.
Funeral services will be held at 3 PM Sunday, August 24th at the
Cherokee Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Joe Witcher and Bro.
Andrew Miller officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in
the Cherokee Memory Gardens. The family will be receiving friends from 2
PM until the hour of service Sunday at the funeral home.
Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Laquetta “Ann” Jiles; Siblings,
Eugene Jiles, Tony Jiles, Diane Colbert, Linda Pitts; Brother-in-law,
Tommy Cox; Sisters-in-law, Judy Perkins and Gail Clark; Several nieces
and nephews also survive.
Pallbearers are Mitchell Cox, Larry Jiles, Donnie Gibson, Michael Cox,
Robbie Cox, and Bobby Loyd.
Honorary pallbearers include DJ Perkins, William Jiles, David McClure,
Devin Delgado, Alex Loyd, Taylor Cox, and Eugene McClure.
Mr. Jiles was born in Carrolton, GA to the late Tyre and Edna Jiles. He
was a devoted Christian. Jerry joined the US Army in 1959 and proudly
served our county. After his time in the Army, he worked as a skilled
wood-worker, specializing in cabinetry. He was proud to be known as
“Army Strong”.
He is preceded in death by his son, Jeffery Jiles, and his brother,
Harry Jiles.
