Shooting Leads to Drug Seizure at Leesburg Residence
Leesburg, Ala. – An early morning shooting on July 22 has led to a significant drug seizure and ongoing investigation at a residence on Lakefront Drive in Leesburg.
At approximately 5:00 a.m., the Leesburg Police Department was dispatched to the home following reports of a shooting. While en route, officers were alerted to a separate call reporting that a male victim had arrived at Coosa Corner claiming he had been shot at the Lakefront Drive location.

Leesburg officers, along with personnel from the Centre Police Department and Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office, responded to Coosa Corner to interview those involved. The male victim was transported to a nearby hospital where he was treated for a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.
Following the initial investigation and collection of statements, officers proceeded to the Lakefront Drive residence to further investigate the incident. On July 25, a search warrant was obtained and executed by Leesburg Police and Cherokee County investigators.
The search revealed four individuals occupying the home. During the search, law enforcement seized a large quantity of illegal narcotics as well as the firearm believed to have been used in the shooting.
The case remains under investigation and will be presented to a grand jury at a later date. Authorities have not released the identities of those involved, and all individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
Leesburg Police expressed appreciation for the assistance provided by the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office and Centre Police Department in handling the incident.

On 7/22/25 at approximately 5:00AM Leesburg Police Department wasdispatched to a residence on Lakefront Drive in regards to a shooting. Whileenroute the officer was notified that a separate call had come in about a malesubject at Coosa Corner that had been shot on Lakefront Drive. A LeesburgOfficer, Centre Police Department Officers, and Deputies with the CherokeeCounty Sheriff’s Office responded to Coosa Corner to take statements fromthose who were involved. The subject that had been shot was transported to anearby hospital and treated for a non life threatening injury. After statementswere completed, officers went to Lakefront Drive and conducted aninvestigation. A signed search warrant was later obtained and executed on7/25/25 by Leesburg Police Department and Cherokee County Sheriff’s OfficeInvestigators.Upon execution of the search warrant, it was found the four individualsoccupied the home. A search of the house was conducted and resulted in alarge quantity of illegal narcotics that were seized and the suspected gun thatwas involved during the above-mentioned shooting.The shooting incident will be presented to a grand jury on a later date.
