Boaz Police Arrest Four Women in Massage Parlor Prostitution Investigation

Boaz, AL – A year-long investigation into suspected illegal activities at massage parlors in Marshall County has led to the arrest of four women, following coordinated efforts by the Boaz Police Department and assisting agencies.

Two women, Joann Shiao and Jian Zhang, were taken into custody on Thursday. Zhang, the owner of Pro Massage, and Shiao, an employee of Aromatherapy Spa, were both charged with promoting prostitution. Investigators said the arrests followed months of surveillance, interviews with former patrons, and a review of customer logs. The women are accused of offering sexual favors to clients under the pretense of massage or wellness services.

The Alabama Massage Therapy Licensing Board supported the investigation, which focused on uncovering illegal operations attempting to operate discreetly in the community.

In a separate case earlier in the week, two more women were arrested at Sunshine Massage Parlor, located at 100 Elizabeth Street, Suite 417. The Boaz Police Department executed a search warrant at the location as part of the ongoing investigation.

Xiaodan Yang, 40, of Fuzen, China, was charged with two counts of Prohibited Activities (soliciting patrons for prostitution). Her bond was set at $5,000. Gao Huaying, 37, of Fuzhou, China, was also arrested and charged with one count of Prohibited Activities, with bond set at $2,500. Both women were transported to the Marshall County Jail.

The arrests are part of a broader effort by law enforcement to address prostitution-related offenses in area businesses. The Marshall County District Attorney’s Office provided legal support throughout the investigation.

Shiao and Zhang remain in custody at the Boaz City Jail as of Friday, with bond information still pending. Authorities continue to investigate and encourage anyone with information related to Pro Massage, Aromatherapy Spa, or Sunshine Massage Parlor to contact the Boaz Police Department. Additional arrests and interviews with witnesses and former clients are expected as the case progresses.
