Leesburg Certifies Uncontested Council Elections, Prepares for Busy Fall Season
LEESBURG, AL – The Leesburg Town Council met Tuesday afternoon for a session packed with announcements, certifications, and plans for the town’s upcoming events and projects.
Mayor Brandy Pierce opened the meeting by issuing a formal notice to the Council, announcing that four seats on the Town Council—Places 2, 3, 4, and 5—had been filled without opposition. Only one candidate filed a Statement of Candidacy for each respective position:

In response, the Council unanimously adopted Resolutions 3, 4, 5, and 6, officially certifying each of the candidates as “Elected Without Opposition” to their respective offices.
Mayor Pierce also informed the Council that he has qualified as a candidate in the upcoming August 26th mayoral election. In preparation for that election, the Council adopted Resolution 7, appointing Town Clerk Susan Williams as the official Election Supervisor for the August ballot.
Also during the meeting, Billy Wallace made a presentation requesting use of the town’s softball fields for fall and spring activities. Wallace noted that teams from Gaston, Sand Rock, and other nearby communities are expected to utilize the fields. The Council responded favorably and directed the Town Attorney to prepare a formal agreement to be considered at the next meeting.
In administrative updates, Mayor Pierce noted that the town’s long-anticipated sewer project is expected to get underway shortly. He also mentioned that the annual audit is in progress and urged the Council to begin preparing for the upcoming budget process.
