Dekalb County Drug Task Force concludes lengthy Narcotics Operation with two arrests

From the Office of DeKalb County Sheriff Nick Welden:

FORT PAYNE, Ala. — On Wednesday, May 28, 2025, Narcotics Agents with the Dekalb County Drug Task Force Concluded a lengthy and intensive narcotics distribution investigation, culminating in the arrest of two individuals involved in illegal drug activity.

The Dekalb County Special Response Team (SRT) executed a search warrant at 594 County Road 784 in Ider, Alabama.  As a result, Amanda Rhea Murphy (30 of Ider) and Mark Anthony Collins (40 of Henagar) were taken into custody.

 

Throughout the course of the investigation, Murphy and Collins were found to have sold methamphetamine on multiple occasions to confidential informants.  During the execution of the search warrant, Agents recovered over 10 pounds of marijuana, methamphetamine, prescription pills, and numerous items of drug paraphernalia.

Both Murphy and Collins now face multiple drug-related charges, including trafficking, possession of controlled substances, possession of drug paraphernalia, and distribution of a controlled substance.

 

DeKalb County Sheriff Nick Welden said of the incident: “This operation highlights the ongoing commitment of our Drug Task Force to combat the illegal drug trade in Dekalb County.  We remain dedicated to protecting our communities and holding offenders accountable.”
