Mr. Charles Ray Smithers, age 83 of Centre, passed away Saturday, May 03, 2025 at his residence.

A memorial service will be held at 1 pm, Saturday, May 17, 2025 at the Cherokee Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Eddie Nations officiating. The family will receive friends from 12 noon until the hour of service at the church.

Survivors include his wife, Becky Smithers; Daughter, Christie (Bill) Miller; Sons, Timothy Smithers and Michael (Shannon) Smithers; Grandchildren, Scott Miller, Kayla (J.D.) Bryce, Ryan (Judith) Miller; 4 great grandchildren; Sisters, Johnnie Talmadge and Frances Osborne; Many well-loved nieces and nephews also survive.

Mr. Smithers was born to the late Walter Smithers and Bertha (Smithers) Tinnel in Edgemoor, TN. After joining the army and being honorably discharged, he dedicated his work for 25 years as a carpenter. Charles enjoyed watching baseball and checking out local junk stores to see what treasures he could find.

He is preceded in death by his brothers, Bobby Smithers, Jackie Smithers, Kenneth Smithers; Sisters, Dorothy Silcox and Theresa Thomas.

The family requests in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the ROC building fund. Cherokee Memorial Funeral Home in charge of all arrangements.
