GADSDEN– An East Gadsden fire damaged a manufactured home over the weekend, but the occupants escaped safely before firefighters arrived.

The Gadsden Fire Department reported no injuries following the structure fire.

First-arriving crews found smoke and flames coming from the home. They then entered the structure and quickly extinguished the fire, limiting further damage, according to the department.

The department also notified the American Red Cross to assist the occupants with needs resulting from the fire.

Responding Gadsden units included Engine 3, Truck 20, Engine 1, and Rescue 1. Engine 6, Engine 8, Rescue 2, and Battalion 2 also responded.

In addition, the Gadsden Police Department, Glencoe Fire Department, and Alabama Power responded to the scene.

Glencoe responded under an automatic mutual aid agreement. The department said that partnership provides additional resources to help neighboring communities protect lives and property.

The department’s report did not identify the cause of the fire or provide a damage estimate.
