GADSDEN-The woman killed in an East Gadsden hit-and-run Wednesday morning has been identified as 66-year-old Teresa Cranford Hammett of Gadsden.

The collision occurred at approximately 5:13 a.m. near College Parkway and East Meighan Boulevard. Emergency responders found Hammett in the roadway. She died at the scene.

According to police, evidence recovered at the scene indicates the vehicle may have significant front-end damage. Investigators believe it was traveling on College Parkway toward the nearby poultry plant.

Meanwhile, the Gadsden Police Department continues searching for information about the driver and vehicle involved. However, the investigation remains active.
