Calhoun County Reports 103 SORNA Registrations, 72 Home Verifications in August

Calhoun County SORNA registrations update showing 103 registrations and 72 home verifications completed during August.

ANNISTON– The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office completed 103 SORNA registrations and 72 home verifications during August, according to its monthly update.

The agency’s Offender Management Bureau also reported two new SORNA arrests. In addition, the bureau obtained two warrants.

The update did not identify those arrested or provide details about the alleged violations. All defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.

The bureau administers registration requirements under Alabama’s Sex Offender Registration and Community Notification Act. According to the agency, staff maintain offender records and monitor compliance with state law. They also coordinate with other law enforcement agencies.

WEIS previously reported on a May enforcement operation targeting registered offenders suspected of violating registration requirements. That effort included arrests, compliance checks, and reviews of offender records.

Residents can review the county’s public sex offender registry through the sheriff’s office website.
