WEST ROME– Several Floyd County Police Department officers are taking part in training this week to become certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians.

Once certified, the officers will be able to help parents and caregivers make sure child car seats are installed correctly. They will also be able to answer questions about proper use and child passenger safety.
The department says the training will help officers better serve the community. Proper car seat installation can play an important role in helping protect children on the road.
The Floyd County Police Department will also hold a free car seat check event Friday from 10 a.m. to noon at West Rome Baptist Church.
Parents and caregivers can stop by for help installing a new seat, checking a current seat, or asking questions about car seat safety.
