CENTRE — The Cherokee County Historical Museum is inviting the community to take a trip down memory lane while learning about one of the world’s oldest crafts during its upcoming Crafts & Things program.
The event will be held Wednesday, June 24, at 12 p.m. at the museum and will focus on weaving, an ancient craft that has been practiced for thousands of years. Participants will revisit a familiar childhood activity by working with potholder looms while also exploring additional weaving techniques and creative possibilities.
Organizers say many people remember owning a potholder loom as children, and the program will demonstrate how that simple craft can serve as a gateway to a wide variety of weaving projects.
A $20 fee will cover all supplies needed for the workshop, and participants are not required to bring any materials. Refreshments will be provided during the event.
The museum encourages anyone interested in crafts, history, or learning a new skill to attend for an afternoon of hands-on creativity and fellowship.
