New Centre City Hall Move-In Date Updated to June 25th

During the Centre City Council work session Tuesday afternoon, Building Inspector, Raymond Matthews told the Council office furniture is arriving and being installed in the offices and the lawn work is being done. He said the new target move in date is June 25th.

The Council meeting was presided over by Mayor Pro-tem Phillip Roberts. Mayor Jay Howell and Councilman Don Cothran were away on a business trip. Councilor Karen Slupe was absent but there was a quorum to conduct business.

In regular business, a Public Hearing for the Fire Department was approved for July 14th at 5:15 pm to discuss the adoption of the Fire Codes for the City. The Council approved the $1000 appropriation for the County Historical Museum which is a budgeted item. A quote from Mike Johnson Tree Service in the amount of $1200 was approved, a change order for the New City Hall in the amount of $7529 was approved, an invoice from Nathan Quarles for ice maker repairs at the Judicial Building in the amount of $1800 was approved, and the Council approved an invoice in the amount of $7546 from Network Solutions for Wireless Internet at the New City Hall.

Approval was given by the Council for Tom McElrath to complete the plans for Phase 3 of the Gymnasium next to the New City Hall.

The Next Meeting of the Centre City Council is set for June 23rd with work session at 4:30 and meeting at 5 pm in the Council Chambers.
