
CHEROKEE COUNTY— The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Foundation has awarded its first scholarship, recognizing a local student’s academic achievements and future aspirations.
Sheriff Jeff Shaver and Chief Deputy Josh Summerford recently presented a $1,000 scholarship to Janaya Higgins, a graduate of Cedar Bluff High School. The scholarship will help Higgins continue her education and pursue her future goals.
According to the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office, the award represents a significant milestone for the Sheriff’s Foundation as it continues its efforts to support education and invest in the future of Cherokee County residents.
Foundation officials said the scholarship program reflects the organization’s broader mission of strengthening the community and enhancing the lives of those who call Cherokee County home.
The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office congratulated Higgins on her accomplishment and expressed its best wishes as she begins the next chapter of her educational journey.
The scholarship is the first awarded by the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Foundation and is expected to serve as part of the organization’s ongoing commitment to supporting local students and educational opportunities throughout the county.
