At the September 1st meeting, the Piedmont City Council committed to the purchase of a 2026 Petersen Knuckleboom truck from Truckworx. The vehicle will replace a 2013 model and will be used for limb and junk removal. The company had only one of the trucks left. To ensure the city would get the vehicle, the council committed to the purchase before the item was put on the agenda. Mayor Kevin Farmer reported that the $235,000 cost would be placed in the next budget cycle.
In other action the council approved for the mayor to sign the contract with Nances Creek Piedmont, LLC to purchase property in the industrial park for $50,000. The previous council had agreed to sell the property. Tuesday’s action finalized the sale.
Councilwoman Brittney Neal-Williams announced that the Peppertown Reunion was this upcoming weekend. The event will take place on the field near the old Bethune School.
