It was a short meeting of the Cherokee County Commission Monday afternoon with several items approved. An agreement and Resolution dealing with Nonurbanized Area Public Transportation with the East Alabama Regional Planning and Development Commission with a local match in the amount of $17,198 and authorized the Chairman to sign.
The Commission agreed to the General Release of All Claims and a Confidentiality Agreement between the Commission and Wiregrass Construction on an insurance claim.
A pest control contract with Sand Mountain Pest Management was approved for annual service agreement in the amount of $7320 to cover all county buildings.
A new security system for the Admin Building and the New Courthouse was approved with Secure Tech Inc. in the amount of $22,718.
The Commission passed a resolution allowing the Sheriff Department to join the Florida Sheriff’s Association which will give them the option of purchasing equipment through a large purchasing cooperative. The resolution was necessary for the Department to be in compliance with the State Bid Laws. There was no charge to join the Association.
The County Personnel Policy was amended to allow certain Sheriff Deputies to receive overtime pay for participating in the State Funded Traffic Overtime Program.
A contract with Teracon Consulting for soil testing on a county road in District 4 was approved in the amount of $21,850 to be paid from the highway sales tax fund from District 4.
The next meeting of the Cherokee County Commission will be June 8th at 10 am in the Commission Chambers.
