Gadsden Regional Medical Center “Temporary Diversion” Over-Back To Normal Operations

WEIS Radio News received information this afternoon that Gadsden Regional Medical Center was on diversion until further notice. This means they were not receiving patients from other hospitals and ambulances. All area Ambulance Services and Dispatch Centers were notified.

We reached out to Gadsden Regional for Comment about this situation. They issued the following statement:

Statement from Gadsden Regional Medical Center

Gadsden Regional Medical Center is releasing this statement based on questions from the community about a patient treated at our hospital today. While we cannot disclose private patient information, we can share that we worked in close collaboration with the Alabama Department of Health and CDC regarding a patient who presented to our emergency room. We can confirm this evening that there are currently no confirmed or suspected cases of viral hemorrhagic fever within our hospital, community or the surrounding region.

While the hospital’s emergency room was placed on diversion for ambulances earlier, it remained open for patients throughout the day and is fully open now, including for ambulance transport.

We’d like to express our great appreciation to our physicians, nurses, and clinical and support teams who managed today’s events with expertise and professionalism.

We’re proud to serve our community and to provide help for patients whenever we are needed.
