Mrs. Mary Jean Smith, age 71 of Centre, passed away Saturday May 16, 2026 at Atrium Health in Rome.

Funeral services will be held at 1PM Tuesday May 19th at the Cherokee Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Harold O’Neal officiating. Burial will follow in the Hebron Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 11am until the hour of service at the funeral home.

Survivors include his daughters Tracy (Donnie) Snead and Kathy (Steven) Elkins; Grandchildren, Kaley (Kerry) Weaver, Kaden (Alanna) Snead, Savannah (Jacob) McKnight, Erin (Alex) Swindle, and Kyle Elkins; Great-Grandchildren, Aubrey McKnight, Georgia McKnight, Waylon McKnight, Oaklyn Swindle, and Raelynn Weaver; Sisters, Deborah (Kenny) Eads and Tina (Terry) Abernathy; Brother David (LeAnn) Sellers.

Pallbearers include Kaden Snead, Jacob McKnight, Alex Swindle, Rodney Eads, Tanner Eads, Mackey Eads, and Will Walker.

Mrs. Smith was a native of Charlotte North Carolina, the daughter of the late Garfield and Myrtle Sellers. She was preceded in death by her brothers Wayne Sellers and Ricky Sellers.
