District Attorney Summerford Visits Crossville Elementary, Honors Students with Power of 1 Award

CROSSVILLE — DeKalb-Cherokee District Attorney Summer Summerford recently visited Crossville High School to speak with fourth-grade students about the importance of making positive choices and the lasting impact those decisions can have on both their own lives and the lives of others.

During her visit, Summerford encouraged students to recognize the “power of choices,” emphasizing how everyday decisions help shape character, relationships, and future opportunities. She also challenged students to spend their summer focusing on kindness, positivity, and being more intentional with their families.

Summerford encouraged the students to return to school in the fall prepared to serve as strong role models for younger students as they transition into fifth grade.

In addition to speaking with students, Summerford had the opportunity to recognize several individuals for their positive influence throughout the school year by presenting the Power of 1 Award, an honor given to students who consistently demonstrate kindness, helpfulness, and positivity toward others.

School officials and community leaders praised the students for setting an example through their actions and creating a positive environment among their peers.
